A “Hero Award” to the Monument Crisis Center

At our 2010 Community Summit, we were very pleased to present a Healthy & Active Before 5 “Hero” award to one of our Leadership Council agencies, the Monument Crisis Center.

The award reads…

Healthy & Active Before 5 recognizes the Monument Crisis Center for their integrity and innovation, making health and wellness a priority in all aspects of their work.

We applaud you.

When the Healthy and Active Before 5 Action Plan was presented, the Monument Crisis Center created their “Fruit of the Day” program and began to offer healthy cooking classes.

When we asked our Leadership Council agencies to “Pledge the Practice. Pass the Policy.” …the Monument Crisis Center wrote and passed their own “No Juice or Soda Policy.”

Accepting the award on behalf of the Monument Crisis Center was Volunteer Coordinator, Rohit Sengupta. Listen to his acceptance speech in which he describes the importance of organizational change to the lives of Contra Costa children. (It’s great.)

The Monument Crisis Center has been an enthusiastic community partner and we are pleased to recognize and celebrate their success.
